Basketball Recap: Anthony Montez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tatum over Eunice

Tatum lost against Eunice back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tatum Coyotes fell 58-49 to the Eunice Cardinals. The Coyotes were down 47-23 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Tatum lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Anthony Montez, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 13 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Martinez, who went 5-for-7 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Tatum dropped their record down to 6-19 with the loss, which was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Eunice, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.

Looking ahead, Tatum is taking a road trip to challenge Texico at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Texico's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matches. As for Eunice, they will welcome Loving at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Eunice is facing Loving at the right time seeing as Loving is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
