Pace Academy faced Pope in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Knights put the hurt on the Greyhounds with a sharp 3-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
While Pace Academy might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Pope scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-23, 25-23.
Pace Academy had a senior duo take command as Gabby Emch had 13 digs and two aces and Britton McGurn had 18 assists and six digs. McGurn is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Pace Academy's victory bumped their record up to 28-7. As for Pope, their defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-8.
Coming up, Pace Academy will challenge Midtown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pope does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
