Recap: Frostproof Bulldogs vs. Lakeland Christian Vikings
After a string of four wins, the Frostproof Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 79-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeland Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Frostproof still got an impressive performance from Sevastian Rosado, who scored 37 points along with four steals. That was a full 53.6% of Frostproof's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Turral Berry, who scored 18 points.
Frostproof struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lakeland Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Stephens, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stephens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ralph Scott, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Frostproof's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for Lakeland Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Frostproof won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wesley Chapel at 4:30 p.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Wesley Chapel's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Lakeland Christian, Lakeland Christian and Fort Meade will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fort Meade will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
