Softball Recap: Polo Panthers vs. Trenton Bulldogs
Polo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 7-3 to the Trenton Bulldogs. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
Malia Bell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Heil, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Even though they lost, Polo didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with seven strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Polo's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Trenton, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-8.
Polo will look to defend their home field on Monday against Hardin-Central at 5:30 p.m. As for Trenton, they will head out to square off against Albany at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Albany is coming into the matchup with 11 straight victories at home, so Trenton will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
