Softball Recap: Lawrence County Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Rowan County

Lawrence County faced Rowan County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 6-5. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in May of 2019.

This is the second loss in a row for Lawrence County and nudges their season record down to 9-3. As for Rowan County, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3.

Looking ahead, Lawrence County will be playing at home against Pikeville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rowan County, they will square off against Fleming County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
