Softball Recap: Vernon Comes Up Short

Vernon fell victim to Freeport and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 17-0 to the Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-11 back in March.

Vernon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheyenne Wilson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Vernon and nudges their season record down to 3-12. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-6 Bozeman (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.3% over those games). As for Freeport, they pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Vernon will challenge Bay at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Freeport, they will face off against Bozeman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bucks have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
