Baseball Recap: Bagdad Comes Up Short

Bagdad was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the San Tan Charter Roadrunners. That's two games in a row now that the Sultans have lost by just one run.

Bagdad saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Destry Owings, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Owings has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

Bagdad's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for San Tan Charter, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Coming up, Bagdad will challenge Maryvale Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sultans are facing the Matador at the right time seeing as the Matador are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for San Tan Charter, they will take on Gilbert Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
