Baseball Game Preview: Patterson Tigers vs. Buhach Colony Thunder

The Patterson Tigers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Buhach Colony Thunder at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Patterson's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Buhach Colony has been banged up by 11 consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Patterson and El Capitan meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Patterson had just enough and edged out El Capitan 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since April 18, 2024.

Patterson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Cozart, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases. Mitchell Carter also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Buhach Colony came up short against Escalon on Wednesday, falling 10-4. The loss was the Thunder's first of the season.

The victory got Patterson back to even at 2-2. As for Buhach Colony, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 1-1-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Patterson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Buhach Colony struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Patterson was able to grind out a solid win over Buhach Colony when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 5-2. Will Patterson repeat their success, or does Buhach Colony have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
