Softball Recap: Mundelein Has No Trouble Against Warren Township

Warren Township typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Mundelein proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Blue Devils. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Blue Devils back in April, they had to take a 9-8 loss.

Sophia Zepeda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Claire Connelly and Emily Courtney did most of the damage at the plate: Connelly went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Courtney went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Courtney has posted since back in April of 2024. Kieley Tomas was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mundelein kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

Mundelein's record is now 16-7. As for Warren Township, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mundelein will square off against Lake Zurich at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Warren Township, they will challenge Stevenson at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight.
