Basketball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 61-45 to the Franklinton Demons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 59-44 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.

Despite the loss, Independence saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Haymann Milton posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Arrick Adams, who had nine points.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Franklinton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence has already played their next game (against Northlake Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Franklinton will face off against South Plaquemines at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
