Basketball Recap: Barnwell Comes Up Short

Barnwell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks. The Warhorses were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Messiah McFadden went supernova for Blackville-Hilda, going 8 for 15 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds. Samari Williams was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Blackville-Hilda's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Barnwell will welcome Williston-Elko at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Blackville-Hilda, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ridge Spring-Monetta at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
