Basketball Recap: Chesapeake Takes a Loss

Chesapeake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 24th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Meade Mustangs, falling 66-33. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Arouna Soumaoro was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 10 on his way to 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals for Meade. Those three steals gave Soumaoro a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Turman, who posted 11 points.

Chesapeake's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Meade, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Chesapeake will square off against Broadneck on Tuesday. As for Meade, they will venture away from home to take on Severna Park at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Meade's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
