Softball Recap: Taft Victorious

Taft's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Glenbrook South Titans.

Michaela Power was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jiovanna Landeen was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Avelese Cruz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Taft's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Glenbrook South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taft will face off against Evanston at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Glenbrook South, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against New Trier at 4:45 p.m. The Titans will need to watch out since the Trevians have now posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
