Baseball Recap: Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes vs. Taos Tigers        
        
		
            
 Pojoaque Valley was the  7-0 winner over Taos when they last played one another  back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes fell just short of the Taos Tigers by a score of  4-3 on Wednesday. Pojoaque Valley has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Ernesto Cardenas was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He  struck out seven batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned run off   five  hits. Cardenas was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with a  triple and a  run.
 Cardenas wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Andres Trevizo, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.  Raven Naranjo was another key contributor,  going 1-for-2 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 Pojoaque Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Taos, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last eight matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record  this season.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pojoaque Valley will  challenge Espanola Valley at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Taos, they will be staying on the road  in Saturday's  first game to face off against Los Alamos at 10:00  a.m. Los Alamos is coming into the  game with six straight  losses at home,  meaning Taos will have to defend against a  squad hungry for a  victory.
