Basketball Recap: Mooresville Sets Scoring Season-High Against West Cabarrus

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mooresville). They strolled past the West Cabarrus Wolverines with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 72-54. The Blue Devils pushed the score to 53-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolverines cut but never quite recovered from.

Mooresville had a senior duo take command as Lilly Rumrill posted 21 points and Macy Crum scored 18 points. With that strong performance, Rumrill is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Lane, who earned ten points.

The win made it two in a row for Mooresville and bumps their season record up to 8-12. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points over those games. As for West Cabarrus, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mooresville will head out to take on A.L. Brown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mooresville is facing A.L. Brown at the right time seeing as A.L. Brown is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for West Cabarrus, they will square off against Hickory Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th.
