Monroe City is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will challenge the Highland Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Monroe City came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Mendon Unity, falling 15-3.

Meanwhile, Highland fell victim to Scotland County and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 15-0 to the Tigers. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Monroe City's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Monroe City was able to grind out a solid victory over Highland when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 9-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monroe City since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
