The Azusa Aztecs will take on the Ontario Jaguars at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Azusa was able to grind out a solid win over Edgewood, taking the game 9-4. The Aztecs haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Zach Huizar made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 13 hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Jacob Elliot was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Terry Chavez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Azusa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edgewood only posted an OBP of .323.
Meanwhile, Ontario narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Nogales 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.
Ontario saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Vargas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Azusa's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Ontario, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Azusa came out on top in a nail-biter against Ontario in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 9-8. Will Azusa repeat their success, or does Ontario have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
