Baseball Recap: Delaware County Christian Finds Playoff Glory Versus Calvary Christian Academy

With a playoff win on the line, Delaware County Christian rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Calvary Christian Academy Cougars by a score of 6-1. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Beau Lyren made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over 6.1 innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Josiah Lyren and Matteo DeBellis did most of the damage at the plate: Josiah went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run, while DeBellis went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Delaware County Christian is undefeated when Lyren posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-11 otherwise. Justin Ma was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Delaware County Christian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Delaware County Christian nor Calvary Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
