Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Howell). Everything went their way against the Staley Falcons on Thursday as they made off with a 15-2 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Vikings with their most commanding win of the season.

The victory (which was Howell's third in a row) raised their record to 11-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Staley, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1.

Howell and Staley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps National Rankings. The Vikings will take on Hickman at 3:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (1 vs. 87). Meanwhile, Staley (ranked second) will meet St. Elizabeth (ranked 64th) at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.5, the Hornets 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
