Softball Game Preview: Bradford Tornadoes vs. P.K. Yonge Blue Wave

Bradford is a perfect 10-0 against P.K. Yonge since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bradford Tornadoes will square off against the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. Bradford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Bradford lost 8-1 to Newberry on Tuesday. The Tornadoes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bradford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kingslee Phillips, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Kallie Yowell also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask P.K. Yonge). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Cedar Key an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Blue Wave in their matchups with the Sharks: they've now won five in a row.

Mickinzi Anderson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sydney Corona, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

P.K. Yonge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .793. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Bradford's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for P.K. Yonge, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Everything went Bradford's way against P.K. Yonge in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, as Bradford made off with a 17-1 win. Will Bradford repeat their success, or does P.K. Yonge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
