Basketball Recap: Altavista Comes Up Short

Altavista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took an 83-73 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Minutemen. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (58), the Colonels still had to take the loss.

Liberty found their leader in sophomore Ayden Padgett, who dropped a double-double with 39 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Padgett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Overstreet, who went 5-for-9 en route to 10 points and seven boards.

Altavista's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 5-17.

Altavista has already played their next contest, a 71-55 defeat against Chatham on the 18th. As for Liberty, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-47 victory against Amherst County on the 18th.
