Softball Recap: West Liberty-Salem Starts Season with Defeat at Home

West Liberty-Salem unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 13-5 to the Fairbanks Panthers on Monday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Audrey Collins was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliva Reichardt, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Fairbanks and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

While West Liberty-Salem had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
