Volleyball Recap: Ethan Gorny Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Christel House

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Heritage Christian walked away with a 3-1 victory over Christel House. This was payback for Heritage Christian, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Heritage Christian was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 24-26, 25-20, 25-17.

Heritage Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Gorny, who had 16 assists.

Heritage Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in five consecutive contests.

Christel House's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carlos Estudillo, who had five digs and five aces. Another player making a difference was Kevin Cruz Vera, who had six digs, five kills, and three blocks.

Heritage Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Christel House, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Heritage Christian will square off against rival Indianapolis Bishop Chatard at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Christel House is set to face off against their familiar foe Indianapolis Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
