Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Floresville

Floresville entered their tilt with Uvalde on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) by a score of 8-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 back in March.

Jaden Moreno made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Floresville let Austin Beyer and Emmett Nettles run wild. Beyer scored two runs while going 2-for-5, while Nettles scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Nolan Westbrook was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Floresville's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Uvalde, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floresville will welcome Carrizo Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers/Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Uvalde, they will host Southwest Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
