Flag Football Recap: Laguna Creek Takes a Loss

Laguna Creek extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-15. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolfpack earlier this season, when they won 12-6.

Despite the loss, Laguna Creek still got an impressive performance from Avaya Warner, who picked up 100 receiving yards and one TD. Warner was even better on defense, picking up two sacks and making 13 total tackles in addition to snagging two interceptions.

Even if they lost, Laguna Creek's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Ava Urbano and Warner, who racked up all four sacks between them. Urbano has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last four times she's played.

As for Cosumnes Oaks, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 7-10 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since October 28, 2024.

Cosumnes Oaks was led to victory by Abby Greene and Jazlene Ramos. Greene picked up 140 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Ramos threw for 305 yards and two TDs while completing 72.5% of her passes.

Laguna Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they have already played their next contest, a 39-0 defeat against Pleasant Grove on the 23rd.
