Softball Preview: Homedale Trojans vs. McCall-Donnelly Vandals
Homedale is on a four-game streak of home losses, and McCall-Donnelly a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Homedale Trojans will welcome the McCall-Donnelly Vandals at 3:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Homedale turned things around against Fruitland on Wednesday. They blew past the Grizzlies 12-6. The Trojans not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22nd (when they won 12-3).
McCall-Donnelly couldn't beat Grangeville on Thursday even though they stacked six runs on them in the first inning. The Vandals took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. While the Vandals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 6-1 in the first period.
Makenzie Pedrow and Payton Woolcott stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pedrow went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Woolcott got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That home run marked the first that Pedrow has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Harper Ferguson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-13. As for McCall-Donnelly, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19.
