Basketball Game Preview: Coahoma County Red Panthers vs. North Panola Cougars

The Coahoma County Red Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the North Panola Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coahoma County will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Coahoma County didn't have too much trouble with Holly Springs as they won 66-47. Given the Red Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Hawks are ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Caleb Hearns, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caron Pollard, who posted 15 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, North Panola lost 86-60 to Horn Lake on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Coahoma County has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for North Panola, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Everything came up roses for Coahoma County against North Panola when the teams last played on January 3rd, as the squad secured a 68-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coahoma County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
