Volleyball Recap: Westerville Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against Westerville North on Friday, Westerville Central came back down to earth. The Warhawks lost 3-0 to the Hilliard Darby Panthers on Tuesday. The Warhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Westerville Central was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-9.

Hilliard Darby can attribute much of their success to Lila Handrahan, who had 17 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Handrahan has posted since back in September of 2024.

Westerville Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Westerville Central will be playing at home against Big Walnut at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hilliard Darby, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Westerville North at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
