Basketball Recap: Sunset Takes a Loss

Sunset was the 54-46 winner over Archbishop Carroll when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Sunset Knights took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs on Monday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Sunset still got an impressive performance from Brandon Luis, who went 11 of 22 en route to 26 points. Luis' evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jonathan Clarke was another key player, putting up four points and four steals.

It was another big night for Marcus Gillete, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals for Archbishop Carroll. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Marquez, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Sunset's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Archbishop Carroll, their record is now 12-7.

Sunset didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-51 defeat against Marathon on the 28th. As for Archbishop Carroll, they are taking a road trip to face off against Florida Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Archbishop Carroll is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.
