Basketball Game Preview: Northampton County Jaguars vs. Bertie Falcons

The Northampton County Jaguars are taking a road trip to challenge the Bertie Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Wednesday, Northampton County came up short against Roanoke Rapids and fell 44-31.

Despite the defeat, Northampton County had strong showings from Kaiyah Cherry, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 14 points, and Toccara Joyner, who posted six points. That was a full 45.2% of Northampton County's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Bertie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to Holmes at home by a 41-23 margin.

Bertie's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Northampton County, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-5.

Northampton County came out on top in a nail-biter against Bertie in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 42-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northampton County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
