Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Cyprus' Tenth in Last 13 Outings

Cyprus was forced to take a big defeat against they on Wednesday, they got the better of them on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the West Jordan Jaguars. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Jaguars on Wednesday, they had to take a 12-2 loss.

Dj Oveson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Easton Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Rene Hidalgo was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Cyprus has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for West Jordan, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-3.
