Soccer Recap: Union Comes Up Short

Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 12-0 to the Abingdon Falcons. While losing is never fun, Union can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Abingdon are ranked 105th).

Union's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Abingdon, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Union will face off against Gate City at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Gate City's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Abingdon, they have already played their next contest, a 9-0 victory against Ridgeview on the 6th.
