Baseball Game Preview: Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack vs. Oak Park-River Forest Huskies

The Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack will venture away from home to take on the Oak Park-River Forest Huskies at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Saint Ignatius College Prep's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Reavis.

The result came thanks to Owen Walsh's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Jaiden Ponce was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Saint Ignatius College Prep: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 8-22 otherwise. Jacob Jelinek was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Oak Park-River Forest waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-0 win. Considering the Huskies have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Oak Park-River Forest's victory bumped their record up to 26-10. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, their win bumped their record up to 12-23.

Saint Ignatius College Prep beat Oak Park-River Forest 7-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Wolfpack repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
