Baseball Recap: Land O' Lakes Gets the Win

Land O' Lakes proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by eight) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Land O' Lakes got a great performance from Aiden Marsiglio as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Marsiglio has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Land O' Lakes' win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Wildman, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was Wildman's first of the season.

Land O' Lakes' victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Land O' Lakes will head out to face off against Sunlake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Sunlake: 3, Land O' Lakes: 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they will venture away from home to take on Anclote at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Anclote has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.83 runs per game on average), something Bishop McLaughlin Catholic will no doubt try to take advantage of.
