Football Recap: Simpson Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Braxton Baldwin and Kolt Walker

Simpson Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lamar, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 21-19 on Friday. The close game was extra heartbreaking for the Cougars, who almost overcame a 21 point deficit.

Despite the loss, Simpson Academy had strong showings from Kolt Walker, who picked up 101 receiving yards and two TDs, and Braxton Baldwin, who punched in one rushing score.

Sullivan Reed continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lamar, rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 170 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes. 86 of Reed's passing yards were hauled in by Jackson Whitcomb.

Simpson Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Lamar, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Simpson Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-14 victory against Oak Forest Academy on the 3rd. As for Lamar, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 34-27 win against Mize on the 3rd.
