Recap: Southwestern Heights Mustangs vs. Stanton County Trojans
The Southwestern Heights Mustangs lost against the Stanton County Trojans back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Southwestern Heights took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. While losing is never fun, Southwestern Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Trojans are ranked 98th).
Stanton County found their leader in underclassman David Crane, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Crane is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Aleman, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Southwestern Heights and nudges their season record down to 1-11. As for Stanton County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwestern Heights will face off against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stanton County, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Elkhart is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
