Basketball Recap: Blue Valley Southwest Skates Past Sumner Academy with Ease

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Blue Valley Southwest had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They really took it to the Sumner Academy Sabres for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-24 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-14.

Among those leading the charge was Mia Hansen, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Olivia Payne, who shot 56% from the field en route to 14 points.

Blue Valley Southwest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Blue Valley Southwest's record is now 13-8. As for Sumner Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Looking ahead, Blue Valley Southwest will face off against Spring Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Spring Hill's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while Blue Valley Southwest has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Sumner Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
