Baseball Recap: Fairhope Has No Trouble Against Richmond-Burton

The Fairhope Pirates got the win against the Richmond-Burton Rockets on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Blake Westry made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Alex Herington was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Rock Gearhart, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Fairhope's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Richmond-Burton, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairhope will challenge Mary G. Montgomery at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Richmond-Burton, they will face off against Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
