Basketball Game Preview: Poplar Bluff Mules vs. Holcomb Hornets

The Poplar Bluff Mules will venture away from home to take on the Holcomb Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Poplar Bluff beat Mehlville 51-40. Given the Mules' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Panthers are ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Holcomb was able to grind out a solid win over South Pemiscot on Monday, taking the game 51-38. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Poplar Bluff's record is now 9-7. As for Holcomb, their record is now 6-8.

Poplar Bluff took their victory against Holcomb in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 53-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poplar Bluff since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
