Basketball Recap: Montgomery Takes a Loss

Montgomery was the 68-46 winner over Heritage when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Montgomery Vikings fell 53-41 to the Heritage Patriots on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Patriots are ranked 332nd).

Lucas Daniel was the offensive standout of the game as he posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Grube, who put up eight points.

This is the second loss in a row for Montgomery and nudges their season record down to 8-5. As for Heritage, they moved to 5-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Montgomery won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lincoln at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Heritage, they will take on California at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
