Softball Game Preview: Marshall Barristers vs. Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears

The Marshall Barristers will head out on the road to challenge the Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Marshall has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Marshall came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 17-1 to Garfield. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Barristers have suffered since April 12, 2024.

Elaine Reynoso was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Port of Los Angeles entered their tilt with Harbor Teacher last Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Monarchs. The Polar Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Port of Los Angeles' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Marshall, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2.
