Basketball Recap: Springfield Piles Up the Points Against Centerville

There's no place like home for Springfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Sunday. They blew past the Centerville Elks 82-48 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted since January 15th.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Springfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Milly Portis, who went 8 for 15 on her way to 26 points. With that strong performance, Portis is now averaging an impressive 17.7 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayveona Boynton, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 16 points and five steals.

With the win, Springfield broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3. As for Centerville, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will take on Northmont at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. As for Centerville, they will square off against Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fairmont will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Centerville surely won't give up without a fight.
