Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South). Their defense stepped up to hand the Wonderful College Prep Academy Lions a 9-0 shutout on Saturday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Lions are ranked 828th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for South and bumps their season record up to 6-4-1. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Foothill at 6:00 p.m. on December 27th. Wonderful College Prep Academy will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Avenal at 3:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
