Football Game Preview: Sargent vs. Del Norte

Del Norte had trouble last Friday, and unfortunately for them, their opponent this week is a big step up in difficulty. On Thursday they will take on Sargent at 7:00 PM. The odds don't look promising for Del Norte, but the bigger the opponent is, the harder they fall.

Things haven't been easy for Del Norte, and their game last Friday only extended their streak of losses to four. They were completely outmatched, falling 8-58 to Sanford. Del Norte's loss came about despite a quality game from senior Izeah Petersen, who caught passes for 109 yards and picked up 44 yards on the ground. Petersen has now scored at least one touchdown in the past four games.

Meanwhile, Sargent might be getting used to good results now that the team has four wins in a row. They steamrollered Dove Creek 74-20. With Sargent ahead 46-14 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Sargent's win lifted them to 5-2 while Del Norte's defeat dropped them down to 1-6. With four turnovers, Del Norte had trouble holding onto the ball. We'll see if Sargent exploit that vulnerability.
