Softball Recap: Heritage Academy Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Heritage Academy waltzed into their contest on Monday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They blew past the Round Valley Elks 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Heroes, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Sieana Soltero made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Ciara Madrid was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

Heritage Academy's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.8 runs. As for Round Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Coming up, Heritage Academy will venture away from home to take on Santa Cruz Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Heroes 2.2, the Dust Devils 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Round Valley, they will challenge Hopi at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bruins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.86 runs per game on average), something the Elks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
