Volleyball Recap: Woodstock Academy Comes Up Short

Woodstock Academy was the 3-0 winner over Norwich Free Academy when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Centaurs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Wednesday. The Centaurs just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Woodstock Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-17.

Their offense was headlined by Owen Budd and Sam Anderson, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Jake Henderson and his 18 assists. Finally, Budd was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Woodstock Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Norwich Free Academy, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Woodstock Academy will challenge rival Putnam at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Norwich Free Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Sports & Medical Sciences Academy/Bulkeley at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
