Baseball Game Preview: Sevier County Smoky Bears vs. Maryville Red Rebels

The Sevier County Smoky Bears will face off against the Maryville Red Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Sevier County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Jefferson County on Monday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 9-2. The Smoky Bears haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Maryville came out on top against Oak Ridge on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Red Rebels sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Wildcats.

Gavin Dibartolomeo was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Maryville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 14-15-1 when he doesn't).

Maryville's win bumped their record up to 17-15-1. As for Sevier County, they now have a losing record of 14-15.
