MAXPREPS.COM NATIONAL JUNIOR OF THE YEAR
Tony Parker, Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.)
6-8 / 260 / Forward
Parker's breakout junior campaign pushed the Wolverines to their third-straight Class AAAA state title, averaging 17.5 points, 15.6 rebounds and 3.9 blocked shots per contest.

"Tony wants to be the best player, bar none," Miller Grove head coach Sharman White said. "His goals are set higher than just being the best in the state, he wants to be the best player in the nation. He works extremely hard and has a lot of room to grow."

Two of his signature performances came in key games. Against defending Oklahoma state champion Douglass (Oklahoma City) in the semifinals of the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina, Parker turned in 20 points and 27 rebounds to help the Wolverines advance. He capped the season with 21 points and 22 boards against Rockdale County (Conyers, Ga.) in the Class AAAA state championship.

"His desire is one of the things that really sets him apart," White said. "He goes into a game wanting to get 20 points and 20 rebounds. Having that kind of a goal and to be able to go out and make it happen is what makes him special."

Ironically, his most dominant line came in Miller Grove's only official loss of the season, piling up 28 points, 24 rebounds and five blocked shots against Southwest DeKalb (Decatur, Ga.) in February.
