Softball Recap: Sycamore Gets the Win

Sycamore came out on top against Princeton on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Aviators walked away with a 7-4 win over the Vikings. The victory continues a trend for the Aviators in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.

Ava Andolina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sycamore's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alex Davis, who went 1-for-4 with two runs. Kaitlyn Gambaccini was another, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Sycamore's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Princeton, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Coming up, Sycamore will head out on the road to take on Goshen at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Aviators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Princeton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Colerain at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
