Softball Game Preview: Sioux Center Warriors vs. MOC-Floyd Valley Dutchmen

The Sioux Center Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the MOC-Floyd Valley Dutchmen on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Sioux Center sitting on seven straight wins and MOC-Floyd Valley on ten.

Sioux Center had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Cherokee Washington on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers stepped up to hand the Braves an 8-0 shutout. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, MOC-Floyd Valley got the win against Sibley-Ocheyedan on Friday by a conclusive 11-1. The Dutchmen are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the eighth game they've won by 6+ runs this season.

MOC-Floyd Valley's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sioux Center, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Sioux Center came out on top in a nail-biter against MOC-Floyd Valley when the teams last played back in June of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
